Catherine Truman

I am curious about the role that new technologies play in the translation, expression and expansion of our individual and shared experiences of the human body. The ways in which this visual, sensorial, intellectual knowledge and understanding grows and undergoes constant change largely without a conscious registering are interesting to me. These subtle shifts occur all the time and yet there is a notion that human anatomy is a static entity- a known structure.

These works are hybrid forms- juxtapositions of matter, once living on the land and the oceans brought together in my studio- a laboratory of sorts.
