With almost 40 years professional experience, Marian Hosking is one of Australia's foremost contemporary jewellers and has held the position of Head of the Department of Metal and Jewellery at Monash University, Melbourne. In 2007 she was named a Living Treasure: Master of Australian Craft, by Craft Australia.
Hosking has held solo exhibitions and has participated in countless group exhibitions in Australia and internationally. Her work is represented in numerous collections in Australia and overseas, including the National Gallery of Australia and the Powerhouse Museum. In recent years Hosking's practice has taken her to the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, Germany, Austria and India as an artist and curator.
Inspired by Australian flora, Marian recreates wattle, banksia and eucalyptus among others. Her representations of typical Australian botanicals causes the viewer to look more closely at our unique landscape and appreciate the complexities and beauty of individual specimens.
