Mio Kuhnen

Mio Kuhnen completed her undergraduate and Honours studies in Environmental Science and Geology in 2005. From a young age Mio has delved into the Arts due to the creative influences and encouragement from her parents Helen Aitken-Kuhnen and Johannes Kuhnen. In 2006 after a work related accident, Mio began learning metal smith and enamelling techniques from her parents.

Mio’s work, in a reduced and abstract form, relates to her undergraduate studies and honours year on environmental themes and rivers. Recent pieces reflecting fluvial deltas and meandering rivers. The pieces capture the motion of water and sediment, eroding the river bed. The meandering of the river path representing different directions one can be lead down.
