Clavicolnium - earrings 2021

Kath Inglis

Struvea - earrings 2021

Hand-cut and dyed PVC, stainless steel.

70 x 21 x 6 mm

The back layer of this piece is printed with pink cellophane and the top layer is coloured with pink dye. The small new growth nodes are printed with red cellophane making them slightly darker in tone. This collection of earrings reference underwater blooms from the rich marine gardens found Australia’s southern seas. Budding new growth and divisions are expressed through the medium of PVC.

New processes in colouring the plastic were developed during a residency at the State Herbarium at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens in 2019.
