Japanese Garden: Reeds and Stream.
Sterling silver, 18k gold.
39 x 58 x 12mm
This brooch is from a long series of works drawn on experiences of living in Japan. It makes reference to Japanese gardens and to images of nature found in woodblock prints. The small forged elements recall reeds or grasses, while the gold line suggests a stream running through the garden.
My work concerned with veiled narratives of poetic objects, with creating interplays between illusion and allusion through surface and structure, and with meanings of skill in the 21st century. - Eugenie Keefer Bell
