My Brooch is about neither the physicality of objects nor cultural and commercial constructed standard of tastes. My professional practice and creative research of jewelry, has shifted towards a greater awareness of the wider and deeper context of body and the experience of jewelry in contemporary content and context, and the necessity for greater changing public perception of jewelry. By utilizing visual fragmentation of existing jewelry through the use of wearer’s body, this brooch emphasizes on stimulating conceptual empty space through the subversive visual and psychological experience of the “in between”, creating situation, new visual investigation and new form of nonvisual communication questioning the definition of Jewelry.
With new experience of interaction between the work and wearer’s body, the artist generates the condition in which the wearer and viewers are compelled to devise a new meaning, context and state of jewelry perception in a theoretical and conceptual way. - Taweesak Molsawat
